London’s got good food!

Hello…

Well what a week it’s been! I think it’s the busiest I’ve had so far in London. Now that my boyfriend Luke has accepted a job offer (yay!) we are back on the hunt for a flat for the two of us. Which is easier said than done, especially when you’re working full time – something else I’m new to. I’ve had the chance to make a few viewings around Twickenham, but haven’t seen anything quite up ‘our street’ as of yet. So I am definitely looking forward to my trip back home next week for a well earned rest and some of my Mum’s home-cooked food.

I did manage to get to the Barnes Food Festival last weekend, which was amazing! There where so many lovely stalls, the sweet stuff particularly attracting my attention with the I’m-always-happy-to-take tasters. Which I may have tried one too many of. One of my favourites being a little snacking chorizo, handmade by this lovely chap.

Now lunch was a definitely a tricky decision, but in the end I went for a chorizo bap with fried onions and peppers whilst my fellow foodies went for pulled pork with ‘slaw in brioche and a german cheese sausage. All washed down with a nice pint of pressed cider.

I was also fortunate to have the chance to do some work at Paradis, home to Lashes of London. Thanks to my friend Allison, I was able to help out with some sample cutting for their SS14 collection. My poor hands and fingers were sore and aching after a hard days cutting, but we decided to treat ourselves some well deserved pan asian food at Tootoomoo in Crouch End. It;s just recently opened a few months ago and it had such a fresh and funky feel to it – the decor was so bright and cheery, which I just loved. We both went with the crispy duck rolls to start, then I had the szechuan chilli chicken and Allison went for the bulgogie beef sirloin. All of it was scrummy and you could taste all the fresh ingredients. I’d definitely recommend a visit if you are over that way!

And then just the other night, I took a trip to Diners Delight in Teddington for my first taste of the turkish cuisine (which I can definitely recommend – the people there are super lovely). We had a variety of meze including spicy sausage, falafel and the amazing balloon bread.

Wow, alot of good food in a short space of time….. I expected to leave home for the first time and be eating bobs beans and toast all the time, turns out that’s not going to happen.

Thank you as always for reading : )
